Tips for Failing Entrepreneurs By Harish Amilineni
Being an entrepreneur is obviously not easy especially if you are just starting. Remember that as a business owner, you are the boss, you control everything; so if a problem arises, it is all yours for the taking.
One possible contributing factor in the failure of a business owner is self discipline. Not having a boss or someone who could remind you to go back to work if you are lagging puts you at a greater risk for failure. Entrepreneurs do have the freedom to work as they want but that freedom comes with a price. A freedom like that is a big responsibility so if you are not used to that, you’d better find ways to remedy that.
I have known a lot of budding entrepreneurs who are complaining not getting the results they want or not having the lifestyle that they have imagined for themselves after months in getting into the field of business. These people are smart, have visions, creative, and full of talent but they do not know how to control themselves and use those talents.
As a newbie, there are a lot of things to learn, especially if your business is online. Focus first on educating yourself and learning crucial skills and get your mind off fantasies of having lots of money. You will get to live those fantasies later. For now, work as hard as you can to stabilize your business.
The only problem that I can see here with self discipline in this case is being lazy or being a procrastinator. I know that it is really hard to deal with that matter but do everything to find ways to motivate yourself to do the things that you have to do. I’m sure that as an entrepreneur, you have a lot of things in mind, plans for the success of your business. You may have a lot of things to do but are you doing them or are they just forgotten?
Here are some tips to help you alleviate your lack of productivity due to laziness:
1. Make a schedule of the things that you need to do for the day. Many will say that this doesn’t work. Of course it won’t work for your first attempt that is why do it again and again until it works; and if it does work, do everything in your power to make it a habit.
2. Before going to work on something, give yourself a prize first. You will feel guilty later on if you have not done any work.
3. Be sure that at least 60% of your schedule is leisure time if you are just starting. You will just get the hang of working and will probably give more time to do productive things.
